ABOUT

Bar d’Allure was a performative event combined with a site-specific installation Citra Amongsari and I curated for the opening night of DC Open gallery weekend. Concerts and performances took place in a fictionalized bar setting that simulated looking at a screen and stepping inside it. Upon entering the space, seeing the bar and encountering the ongoing performances, visitors automatically became part of a mise-en-scene. They could remain passive spectators, listening to the concerts from the outside, or cross the threshold into the bar to get drinks – but thus became an active part of the show because the audience was now watching them from outside.
